Take a Hike

If you’re looking for panoramic vistas and stunning city and coastline views, don’t skip out on the many hikes that Montecito has to offer. Here are a few of the most well-known and visited hikes for the area. Luckily, you don’t have to go too far to take in the beauty of the Santa Ynez Mountains and Los Padres National Forest.

Cold Spring Trailhead

Located off of Cold Spring Road on East Mountain Drive, the 2.1-mile Cold Spring Trail loop is extremely popular. If desired, you can also access other trails for longer hikes. This trail is known for being steep (but not too long). Arrive early to get parking as spots are limited.

Hot Springs Canyon Trailhead

Yes, the Hot Springs Trail leads you to actual hot springs! You can soak in the multiple small pools as a nice hiking reward. Parking is very limited, so try to go early and/or on weekdays for this 2.5-mile hike. Located on East Mountain Drive and Riven Rock Road.

Romero Canyon Trailhead

Popular among hikers and mountain bikers alike. This trailhead is located up Romero Canyon Road on Bella Vista Drive. This 6-plus-mile singletrack trail leads you up Romero Canyon. If you don’t always enjoy hiking in direct sunlight, part of this trail offers shade. This trail was greatly impacted by past fires and storms, and some areas may still be closed and recovering. Limited parking is available.
